A revised model of ethics in information is presented. It can be useful in the analysis of ethical challenges, in what Manuel Castells describes as an emerging system of "mass self-communication" in which social media play a key role. The model identifies three sources or specificities of our information age that lead to five ethical problems related to five individual rights. While the system of mass autocommunications is envisaged somewhat differently by theorists such as Castells, Jenkins or Lyon, the ethical reflection associated with the transition from web 2.0 to web 3.0 depends on the relative weight given to the normative theories of virtue, duty and consequence.
